In my four trips to Iceland, my absolute favorite place to photograph is Diamond Beach. The beach is a black volcanic sand beach where the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon empties into the ocean. Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, the lagoon is full of calved icebergs, which then wash out to sea and then are returned to the black sand beach. The result is “diamond” like glacial ice dotting the black beach. A unique setting in the entire world.
